Why customers choose Unidata

01

Reliability

50 years of operation, backed by Earth Sciences New Zealand.

02

Connectivity flexibility

Cellular or satellite, chosen to suit each site.

03

Application expertise

Engineers who know rivers, groundwater, weather and remote sites.

04

Telemetry to hosting, supported

Logger, link and Neon hosting from one team, with support behind it.

Units come back for a service after 15 years sitting in a river, then go straight back out. Much of our equipment runs in the remote Pilbara.

Products

Three products. One system that keeps working.

Hardware built to last decades in the field, and a hosted platform that turns readings into decisions.

Water velocity and flow

Starflow QSD

Measure water velocity, depth and flow with one compact instrument that sits on the bed of the channel, pipe or stream. Accurate flow in places other instruments struggle to reach.

  • Velocity, depth and flow from one instrument
  • For open channels, culverts, pipes and rivers
  • Connects straight into an NRL logger and Neon hosting

How it works

From sensor to your systems, in five steps.

Buy one piece or the whole chain. Because we make the core links, they work together, and one team supports them.

What does Unidata make?

Unidata designs and manufactures remote data loggers (the Neon Remote Logger range), Starflow water velocity and flow instruments, and Neon hosting for telemetry management, data storage, visualisation, alarms and integration. Everything is designed and built in Perth, Western Australia.

Who owns Unidata?

Unidata is wholly owned by Earth Sciences New Zealand (ESNZ, formerly NIWA), New Zealand's government science institute. The company started in the 1970s as a joint venture with the University of Western Australia.

Does Unidata supply SCADA or control systems?

No. We focus on field data collection, telemetry and hosted monitoring. Data from Neon hosting can be passed into your own systems.

How long does Unidata equipment last in the field?

Our equipment is built for remote, harsh sites such as the Pilbara. Units regularly come back for a service after 15 years sitting in a river, then go straight back out.

Can I buy Unidata products outside Australia?

Yes. We work with sales partners and system integrators in countries including Thailand, the Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
